Why I Started Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling
Hi, I’m Kevin Hayden, the founder of Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field, and my work is shaped by both my professional background and my personal story.
I’m passionate—some might say obsessed—about wellness, mindset, and how people grow and change. Running my own practice is something I truly enjoy because I’m a bit of a problem-solving geek. I love building better systems and creating a therapy experience that’s personal, effective, and accessible.
Building Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling
Whole Mind began in 2021 as a solo practice. After years working across a range of mental health settings—from community mental health programs to leadership roles—I was looking for something different. I wanted to create a space where therapy could be both clinically effective and rooted in strong, authentic relationships.
In 2024, I expanded the practice by hiring another clinician to grow our capacity and reach, while maintaining the personal, high-quality care that defines us.
We’re a growing group practice, and what sets us apart is how we combine heart with structure. We’re clinicians who help clients gain the insight and build the skills necessary to make real, tangible changes in their lives.
Our practice is grounded in personalized care—but we also value smooth, responsive operations. We believe the therapy experience should feel human from the very first contact.
That’s why we prioritize quick responses, clear communication, and a respectful, welcoming process.
Building a Practice That Works for Everyone
Working in mental health for many years taught me a lot. One big takeaway? I knew I wanted to apply those lessons to create a private practice that felt different—both for clients and clinicians. I’m committed to ensuring clients receive the best possible care while clinicians work in an environment that values flexibility, clinical autonomy, and professional growth.
At Whole Mind, we believe supporting clinicians with balance and opportunity is essential—not just for their well-being, but because it leads to better outcomes for the people we serve.

Personal Commitment & Wellness
I’ve been in recovery for over 20 years, and that lived experience has taught me a lot about growth, resilience, and what it truly takes to make meaningful change.
I don’t believe people are broken—more often, they’re stuck. With the right support, perspective, and tools, they can move forward in ways they never thought possible.
On a personal level, I’m deeply committed to mental health advocacy and overall wellness. I’ve run three marathons, including the 2024 and 2025 Boston Marathons with Samaritans to raise funds for suicide prevention and to help reduce the stigma around mental health.
Over the years, I’ve come to see that taking care of your mind and body is the foundation for everything else. That belief guides how I live, how I lead, and how I practice.
If you’re someone who values meaningful, personalized therapy—or a clinician looking for a collaborative, supportive practice where your work is respected—I’d love for you to learn more about Whole Mind Therapy and Counseling.
